Grand Party turned Intimate Soiree | Carrie & Nick 2020
I First met Carrie and Nick about a year ago (almost to the date) when they realized they had a lot of vendor questions, but no one to turn to for answers. I was immediately captivated by their enthusiasm and willingness to say, “I definitely don’t understand that…” We all became fast friends and jumped right into planning their wedding day to the detail.
Five months into our planning process, the pandemic hit the United States in full force but our optimism kept us moving through the next steps. Eventually, optimism wore down and reality set in. We realized the day was going to change dramatically from the music filled night of dancing they had planned in downtown Chicago to something else unknown.
Like two seasoned professionals, Carrie and Nick picked up their entire day and shifted it across state lines to a gorgeous Airbnb on Lake Michigan. Many many phone calls and updates later, we navigated a variety of changes to their day… including entertainment, catering, and photography. To my dismay, they ultimately decided that they would not need help from a coordinator on the big day…. But were gracious enough to share with me how seamlessly they were able to pivot with my help and guidance. Albeit heartbroken to miss their actual wedding day, I understood that these smaller events require a smaller crew.
A few weeks after their wedding day, Carrie sent me the most amazing email describing the entire weekend… and honestly, I could not have imagined a more perfect wedding day for these two souls. And then their photos arrived from Louie… and I saw the happiness on all their faces, I just knew this would be a day they would cherish for the rest of their lives.
Two beautiful pathways lead down to a private beach, perfect for photo opportunities. The couple and their few guests never had to leave the property! And a Chicago violinist set the mood as the couple prepared to share their vows! Dinner and dessert were served outside outside at a giant farm table on the patio with a mobile bar to keep food and cocktails coming the entire weekend.
The short of the story is, life has a way of working itself and being imperfectly perfect.
Congratulations to the beautiful couple!! Truly hoping our paths cross in the near future… house hunting? I do interiors, too! ; ) Wishing you both a world of happiness, even in the most uncertain of times.
