Your date is set, your venue is booked, your timeline is drafted, and now it’s time to get your marriage license! Yep, it’s the little piece of paper that you NEED in order to enjoy your happily ever after. It is important to note that obtaining your marriage license will vary depending on the county that your ceremony takes place. Make sure to read all of the rules!
Pro Tips:
Get it Early - Avoid any last minute stress
Ceremony Location - Get your marriage license from the county of your wedding ceremony (not where the reception is located - that could easily be a different county).
Know the Requirements - Some needed items might include identification documents, fees, etc.
Know the Office Hours - Some clerk’s offices close early, make sure you go on a day they are open and get there on time.
Note the Expiration Date - Marriage Licenses are often only valid for 30-60 days after it’s issued.
Keep it Safe - You will need this document on your wedding day and it will be sent back for processing after the ceremony.
Order Multiple Copies - Once you have your official marriage license, you will need a few copies. If you can, order them early.
Enjoy the Process - You will have to go get the license together, so we suggest dressing up, taking cute pictures, and going to enjoy a nice meal together as you’re one step closer to being married!

If you don’t see the county you’re looking for, a simple google search will get you to the right place! First, google the county that your wedding ceremony will be located in… then google marriage license ABC county and it will take you to the county clerks office of that county! Then you’re all set from there, they should have all the information you need.
